friends header

The Friends of Pocklington Arts Centre support the venue in a wide variety of ways. If you enjoy the Film screenings, Theatre, Music, Comedy, Exhibitions or would just like to volunteer and meet other people and be part of the community this is your opportunity to join us and become a ‘Friend’ of a thriving Arts Centre. As a ‘Friend’ you can volunteer to staff the box office; assist in the auditorium during cinema screenings or live performances; help with fundraising, social events, delivering leaflets, and so on. With around 300 members, our aims are to promote the Arts for all, to actively support the Pocklington Arts Centre, and have a bit of fun as well!

As a Friend of the Arts Centre you will benefit from:

•  Concessionary prices on cinema tickets and discounts to some live performances
•  Regular Newsletters keeping you up to date with Friends’ social events and fundraising activities
•  Invitations to preview evenings of Art Exhibitions and other special events
•  Being involved in Friends’ Projects helping to raise vital funds for the Arts Centre
•  Working in the auditorium during cinema screenings and live events, and watch events for free

Where does our money go?

In recent years the funds we have raised through membership subscriptions, fundraising and donations have contributed towards: the computer system; refurbishing the Centre; digital projection equipment (enabling live theatre, opera and ballet broadcasts, as well as film screenings); art exhibitions; and community projects such as Wolds Wonders and Forgotten Voices (a community choir, based at the Arts Centre); as well as supporting many other projects at the Arts Centre.

Our regular Studio Night provides a platform for young people to hone their performing, presenting, and event organising skills, and has seen a huge variety of high quality performances for all to enjoy. It's proving a particular favourite among young people for somewhere to come for a night out.

The Friends Committee

The Committee meet regularly to discuss fundraising, events and purchases for the Centre. Meet your Friends Committee here. New committee members with enthusiasm and lots of ideas are welcome! If you would like to join the committee, please let us know or put your name forward at the AGM held at the Arts Centre in June.
