Paul Horseman
Talented outdoor photographer and mountaineer Paul Horsman, focuses on the power, beauty and tranquillity of some of the North's stunning landscapes in a fabulous collection of contrasting images, allowing the viewer access to the wild and forgotten vistas he loves. Spectacular colour shots capture the splendour and majesty of Yorkshire and the Lakes from the vantage point of a true explorer.
Saturday 1st May – Thursday 27th May
Malcolm Ludvigsen & Kate Kenney.
Both Kate and Malcolm believe that the best way to capture the spirit of the landscape is by immersing oneself in it so they are carrying on the tradition of Plein Air painting - greatly helped by Kate's car which enables them to go off the beaten track.
Kate “I love the shapes in the landscape - created over time by people working the land. I am attracted to places that aren't affected by the roar of change; places that are quiet and where there is room to breathe.”
Malcolm “I have exhibited in various locations in North Yorkshire including : The Zillah Bell Gallery, Thirsk; The South Street Gallery, Scarborough; The Triton Gallery, Sledmere House and the Ferens Gallery Hull and Sewerby House Bridlington, Open Exhibitions.”
Saturday 29th May to Saturday 3rd July
David Patrick & Pamela Knight
David lives and works in York and creates bold drawings using pastels, charcoal and ink that reflect the built landscape around us.
Pamela Knight - painter and printmaker - produces work inspired by the Wolds. She seeks to evoke mood, light and pattern, observed and absorbed while walking within this landscape
Tuesday 6th July – Tuesday 3rd August
Eclectic
Real & Surreal, Abstract & Modern. An eclectic mix of paintings, photographs, screen prints and sculpture from Pocklington’s finest emerging artists.
Friday 6th August – Tuesday 7th September
Shifting Perspectives
In association with The Down’s Syndrome Association Shifting perspectives brings together the work of an ever expanding group of photographers, all of whom have children or relatives with Down’s syndrome. The exhibition asks us to question the society that we have created and how this is reflected in the narrowness of mainstream representations of those considered beautiful and valuable.
Supported by GlaxoSmithKline With thanks to the Friends of Pocklington Arts Centre
