This group of paintings developed from Nigel's interest in the way human beings use signs & symbols in a variety of contexts – prehistoric art (after a visit to the caves at Lascaux); modern road signs; signage in public buildings, corporate logos etc. There was a layer of meaning in these symbols and colours.
Pocklington Arts Society: Arts & Crafts In Iron Age Pocklington With Paula Ware
The talk will discuss the material culture associated with the graves
located at the Iron Age Cemetery on Burnby Lane, Pocklington. Many of
the finds have no other known parallels making the site of International
importance and one which will change our perceptions of Iron Age
